On Friday, my daughter finished school for the year and is now off for two whole weeks during the Christmas holidays.
Which means I’m also on Christmas break!
I look forward to this two-week break all season, because for most bloggers and influencers, October, November, and December are the busiest months of the year.
You’d guess correctly, based on the catalogs filling your inbox, the increase in deal emails in your inbox, and the sheer number of sponsored Instagram Stories popping up, that brands have their biggest marketing budgets in Q4 (because that’s when the majority of people spend the most), so if you’re creating online content, this is one of the busiest times of the year and revenue from this quarter helps offset the time of year when marketing budgets are much smaller.
I’m also getting more DMs and messages asking for help choosing books for the kids or whether the Yoto Player or Toniebox is better (spoiler: I’ll tell you Yoto every time!) or reminders about the little sound machine I love for traveling.
I love answering those questions and helping as much as I can – I feel like I have the best job in the world – so I’m happy to do it.
AND it was very busy.
Over the last five years or so, my team and I have worked really hard to plan everything for the rest of the year in advance so that when my girls are out of school, I can also let loose and enjoy this wonderful time with them (and my team – all moms too! – can enjoy a break too).
I LIVED these weeks with no schedule, no deadlines, and plenty of time to read in bed, play for hours with the girls, and go on some adventures.
Here are my plans for Christmas Holidays this year:

My Christmas Vacation Plans
- Read Katherine Center’s new book. I got an early copy of his new book Sender which came out in May and I’m saving it for the Christmas holidays – I can’t wait to read this one!
- Keep up with making family videos. I have some family videos to follow including our trip to Boston for fall break and our trip to Mount Rushmore (and last Christmas which I definitely didn’t do the day after Christmas like I had hoped last year). Details on how I made our family video here!
- New Year’s Eve Fondue. A few years ago, my daughters started talking non-stop about our traditional New Year’s Eve Fondue (which… I didn’t realize was a tradition after one year), so we invited a bunch of cousins over and had a really fun New Year’s Eve. Now it’s really become a tradition, so by New Year’s Eve there WILL be chocolate fondue and all kinds of dipping sauces.
- Start White Collar with Ani. A few years ago, we watched all the seasons White Collar with Ella and Ani now 13 years old, he really wants his turn. Honestly, this is my favorite show of all time, so I love watching it again and the Christmas holidays are the perfect time to start!
- Planning Date 2026. One of my favorite traditions during the Christmas holidays is the day Bart and I spend time together working on our goals and plans for the coming year. I wrote a whole post about it here, if you’re curious. It’s a great time for us to really think about what we want in the next year, plan trips, think about our business goals, and what our family life will look like!
- Frame all our Christmas cards. I’ve wanted to do this for years (all of our Halloween photos are framed and I love taking them out every year) and I’d like to have a similar set of all the Christmas cards we’ve sent over the last 15 years. I’ve had it in the box for too long!
- Plan my office makeover. My office has been about 80% complete over the last 4 years. By 2026, I want to make it feel COMPLETE (and more user friendly) and I hope to spend a little time over the Christmas holidays on Pinterest to figure out what I want my office to look like!
- Get a massage. I got a massage gift card from a friend for my 40th birthday in September and you better believe I’ll be cashing it in over the Christmas holidays! I’ve already scheduled it and I can’t wait for it!
What’s on your list for the Christmas holidays? I’d love to hear how you spend your downtime!
