Daily Reading Book Club List 2026

It’s one of the best days of the year – it’s the announcement of the 2026 Everyday Reading Book Club roster!

2026 is the NINTH year of the Everyday Book Reading Club and I love seeing new people join each year!

Nothing pleases me more than messages from people who say they would never read a certain book or try an unfamiliar author or genre without Daily Reading Book Club.

The Everyday Reading Book Club list was ALSO the single most stressful project of the year for me (indeed, until Monday, I was struggling to think about the final slot trying to decide which of the MANY books on my shortlist would take that final slot).

Regarding the Summer Reading Guide (one of my biggest projects this year), here is a list of books I love that you can choose from.

But for Book Club, it’s a list of books that I’m committed to reading and discussing for the entire year, week after week. AND I ask you to read it with me.

Not only do I want YOU to be pleased (or at least interested) by most of the books on the list, I also want a good variety of genres and formats, a mix of old and new titles, fiction and non-fiction.

And I’m looking for books that are reasonably available at your library or included on Audible or Hoopla or can be purchased at a reasonable price.

Plus, to keep it fun for me, I like a mix of books I’ve read and loved, plus books I really want to read and have had on my TBR list for a while.

Most importantly, I need a book that has enough substance to talk about for weeks in a row. There are a lot of books that are really fun but I have a hard time saying anything meaningful about them.

This means that I consider selecting these twelve books each year VERY SERIOUSLY.

Each week on Wednesday, we’ll talk about that month’s book on Instagram Stories (if you’re new to the Everyday Reading Book Club, I have a full post here about how it works!).

Last year, we also added a Fable discussion group (free!) that lets you interact with other readers and share your feedback about the book, chapter by chapter. I love seeing thousands of people join in there and interact like that!

And if you want monthly updates on upcoming books, reading schedules and where to find copies on the cheap, plus occasional extra fun related to these books, just enter your email address below and you won’t miss a thing!

Daily Reading Book Club List 2026

JANUARY

The Briar Club by Kate Quinn
For years readers have been telling me that I need to read something by Kate Quinn and this is it! A historical mystery thriller set in a boarding house in 1950s Washington DC? I can’t wait to read them together (also, last year I chose a novel for the first time for January at book club and it was a huge hit, so we’re doing it again this year!)

FEBRUARY

ReconnectReconnect

Reconnect: How 7 Weeks Without Screens with Amish Monks and Farmers Helped Me Recover the Lost Art of Being Human by Carlos Whittaker
February is Valentine’s Day season which makes me think about relationships and actually nothing hurts my relationships more than screen use, so I thought this would be the perfect read.

LINE UP

Hail Mary Project BookHail Mary Project Book

The Hail Mary Project by Andy Weir
I had it in my 2021 Summer Reading Guide, but I knew I needed to revisit it! I read a copy of the eBook before it was released but this time I’m going to listen to the audio which everyone loves. In this film, Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship without knowing where he is, what he should do, or even what his own name is. As his memories slowly begin to return, he remembers that the sun is starting to dim and there are only a few decades to find the problem and its solution before life on earth becomes unsustainable. And he is now in space on a solo mission to save all of humanity. No pressure. Full of humor, suspense, and science that (mostly) the layman can understand. And the film version starring Ryan Gosling will be released in March – I hope to organize a viewing!

APRIL

HelplessHelpless

Helpless by Lauren Roberts
We’ve done some fun YA fantasy in the past for book club and I have dozens of messages and screenshots about this super popular book. Set in a kingdom where only the strong survive, Paedyn Gray pretends to be a psychic to stay alive… until he saves a prince and is put through a deadly Purge Trial. When forbidden feelings emerge between them, they are forced to navigate a world designed to keep them apart, risking everything for a love that should never have existed.

POSSIBLE

The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why by Amanda Ripley
I read and loved Amanda Ripley’s books The Smartest Child in the World years ago and still think about it a lot, so I was excited to read her newest book which has BETTER reviews than Smartest Child!

JUNE

Swimming TeamSwimming Team

Swim Team by Johnnie Christmas
During the summer, I always choose books that I can enjoy with the whole family, and I especially like to add more graphic novels to my list. This one is really well done – beautiful illustrations, great characters, and a fun, heartfelt story. This is a definite winner. Bree is excited for her first day at a new high school… until she finds out the only elective still open is swim team. But how could he tell his friends—and his coach—that he couldn’t swim? My girls love this one!

JULY

shipwreck at the bottom of the worldshipwreck at the bottom of the world

Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World by Jennifer Armstrong
My father-in-law loves Shackleton and I have been wanting to read this book on his recommendation for over a decade. And when I finally read it aloud to my girls, I was blown away by how good it was! This is one of those true stories that makes your jaw drop that this actually happened. This one is not too long and is suitable for reading with the family or alone.

AUGUST

No Purchase Necessary by Maria Marianayagam
This book was recommended by Sarah from Read Aloud Revival who has impeccable taste and I picked it up from the library a few weeks ago and immediately knew that it would be the perfect book club choice about a boy who is pressured by his peers to steal a candy bar and then, when the boy who told him to do it, rejects him, he opens it and discovers that it is a million dollar prize winning candy bar.

SEPTEMBER

The Lion Woman of Tehran by Marjan Kamali
This book has come up as a favorite time and time again and I have wanted to read it for a long time. Now is my moment! This one is set in 1950s Tehran (a good companion to our January book!) about two girls who form a friendship as children.

OCTOBER

Nettles & Bones by T. Kingfisher
I read it and loved it A Witch Comes Calling last year and I was excited to read her previous book of fairy tales that won basically every award you can imagine (bonus: it’s included in Kindle Unlimited!)

NOVEMBER

The Boys of Riverside: A Deaf Football Team and the Quest for Glory by Thomas Fuller
Every year my library holds a “Best Books” event where librarians share their favorite books of the year and this book has been for me since it appeared at one of those events. Fall is football season and I can’t wait to dive into the season.

DECEMBER

One time in the wardrobeOne time in the wardrobe

Once Upon a Time’s Wardrobe by Patti Callahan
I can’t imagine a book that screams December, Christmas, and snowy winter wonderland more. Blending fantasy and history, this novel offers a glimpse into the life of CS Lewis – the mind behind it The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – while also telling a beautiful story about the bond between a sister and her brother.
