I was 5 years old, I could not go to the Kanak -Kankak Park because my birthday was right after the deadline for school and there were no exceptions at all.
My parents decided to my homeschool that year because public school was not a choice and my mother asked me what I liked the most in the Kanak -Kankanak Park.
I know soon. All I want is lunch box.
My mother bought me a lunch box and for one or two weeks, I had lunch at home outside the lunch box and then the novelty disappeared.
Are you still in love with the idea of a lunch box or completely sick of packaging lunch, packaging lunch is a part of the routine for many families because the school starts to return.
I asked on Instagram for a strategy to handle lunch packing for children and wow, does this community give!
Here are some lunch ideas and strategies suggested by people!

20+ Lunch Ideas for Children
Prepare beforehand
This is the number one response/suggestion when asking for tips for packaging lunch! There are many different strategies to make it happen! Here are some of my favorite:
- We use the shoe organizer on the kitchen door, And 4 boys I put their snacks for a week in it (one bag per day). This has become a change of game for us and we are not running out of snacks in the middle of the week. Plus boys can divide good goods fairly. My husband made a sandwich and vegetable container for boys elementary school night before so they could take it from the refrigerator in the morning.
- Pack as much as possible the night before. When I changed what I took, I made a list of what to add in the morning. We eat the same things every day people have lunch. But the type of change can place some different options on the note card ring or the like. Pay attention to as much as possible and remembering out of the morning is my goal.
- On Sunday, I asked my daughter to write her lunch list In Notepad and we put it in the refrigerator next to the school calendar. He has a rotation of 7 things he likes and will always eat. I know what I need to be ready/help him pack. Fill the bottle of water and put it in the nights refrigerator before. When we don’t spend time for it, regret and decision fatigue is very real.
- I have a place where I keep lunch boxes and ordinary items we use – Chips, snacks, bananas. When preparing dinner or during cleaning, I see a calendar to see who needs lunch the next day, the layout of the boxes and put the non -refrigerator belongings next to it. In the morning, I took cold items, put it in the box, adding other items that I had placed, the ice block, and finished.
- Our routine: the previous weekend plan menu So there is no “what will we eat for lunch” and make lunch before.
- This might not work for everyone … But every Sunday, I cook something for dinner that can be used as leftovers for school lunch for 3 days. I packed and labeled right then and there. I also pocketed and label all snacks for this week on Sunday night. Then on Wednesday night, I made 2 additional lunch and put it in the refrigerator, ready to leave. This helps me to only need to think about it 2 nights per week than every night. I have a small child and I just pack a small food container. (3 years and almost 1 year).
- We make lunch part of the routine after school. My children walked at the door, washing hands, getting snacks, and making their lunch for the next day. Make it easy in the morning.
- Cook batch – Meat and rice taco for teenagers. Frozen on the cubes souper, spend 3-5 days at once.
- Home & Kind’s Hack of Freezing Secion of Sandwich (Even with mayo) saved us last year! Take one of the freezer and melt with lunch.
- We package what we got the night before. Children cannot have the same thing more than twice a week. We do chicken nuggets, sandwiches, pizza rolls, food scraps, ramen, wrappers, etc. We do thermosis. I warmed him in the morning, they took their water bottle from the fridge and we put lunch together.
- I made lunch when I made a dinner before. I also have a list of what my children want in their lunch -no one experimenting, only things they will eat.
- Batch ’em. I packed 10 lunch (2 children x 5 days) on Sundays! But sometimes it will only be done two days at the time that helps too!
- My plan is to make my son ordered their lunch (Packed by me) from the list of staples so we hit more than just carbohydrates and desserts.
- Always wrap the night before and use a standard formula. A main, fruit, vegetables, and snacks. The parent can be a sandwich, salad pasta, curry/soup, chili in the flask (always making the rest of dinner!). Fruits and vegetables must be ready to be eaten. Dip like Hummus can make vegetables more appetizing. Snacks can range from yogurt, granola bars, muffins, traces mixtures, jerky, cheese and crackers, etc.
Children pack themselves
When we are not homeschooling, this is the method we use (now my children get their own lunch at the house responsible for preparing). Children packing lunch can be complicated because you don’t want them to package unbalanced lunch – I am quite sure that I am left without supervision my youngest child will not package anything other than Pretzel Chocolate and Granola Bar. We use this printed lunch idea list and the girls choose one item from each category! It’s very simple and works like a charm! Below is what other people do.
- My children make my own … starting in high school. They also get their own breakfast. So all I did was make sure we came out of the door on time to drop off.
- My children pack their own lunch for cooperatives. I asked what they wanted and I bought it. They do protein, something growing, and whatever they want. One did it the night before, the other in the morning. I have a strong feeling about parents who pack their children’s lunch, but for each of them. Usually looks like fish (salmon or tuna), paprika, pieces of fruit, cheddar rabbits, and high protein yogurt
- My children packed their lunch after dinner. They must choose protein and fruit/ vegetables and then they are good to add anything.
- Almost all children have graduated from secondary school now but when each starts to start the garden I will teach them how to package their own lunch box; In grade 1 they can do everything themselves. I will post a list in the fridge for children who are older than various protein, fruits/vegetables, treats, and drinks that they can put in their lunch. I haven’t made lunch at school in a decade (five children)!
Certain lunch box
People have a real feeling about lunch boxes and after we turn to Bentgo lunch box, I can understand why. That makes a big difference to have something that has the compartment you want, is a dishwasher that is safe and provides cold, hot or second choice. Below is what other people like!
- Bentgo box. Expensive, but commensurate. I have two that I wrap it to- so I have 10 boxes. I (and/or children) make all the lunch Sunday morning before the church, pile up in the refrigerator, then they take one every morning with drinks and put it in a lunch box.
- I got my girl’s omie box It makes it possible to do hot and cold together. I prepare a cold option for this week on Sunday) chopped vegetables/dip, fruit, etc.) and then use leftovers for the hot.
The same thing every day
This sounds genius if your children are not exhausted! I like anything that reduces the amount of decision making that I have to follow.
- I make my children eat the same lunch every day. It eliminates the pressure to think about something new! For my lunch, I only ate the remaining dinner from the night before. Once again, no thought is needed!
- 6 my children get fruit, vegetables, and sandwiches or bagels. Very few of them will take leftovers but do not have a spinning problem between sandwiches and bagels throughout the year. It reduces my decision making and I can cut the Bajillion apple, and put a sandwich.
Other methods
- Ask for your free lunch for all children for all childrenSo it becomes a norm for all children for hot lunch at school and you never have to package any more noble school lunch.
