With the summer above us, early in the morning without school sometimes requires a little barrier to start something good.
For the last few summer, my children have done a swimming team and this is a good start for our morning to go out, exercise, chat with other parents (or read my book on the pool side!), And then go home from breakfast and get ready for that day.
I asked on Instagram for other suggestions to start summer morning and I like the incoming answers!
Here are some of my favorite suggestions to start summer morning:
- Environmental groups run to the park. Especially if the weather is midday making it too hot to play outside comfortably, this is a good way to enter the fresh air and exercise while still cooler. This mother said, “Mother walked around the path while the child played.” I like it fun for everyone, not just children.
- Yoto Daily! If you are not familiar with Yoto every day, this is a child-friendly daily podcast produced by Yoto (you can listen directly from your Yoto player or from the free Yoto application-you don’t even need players to use it or listen to it!).
- Morning Devotional. A mother said, “I am happy to start the summer morning of my children with a service. This is a good way to start the day!”
- Understand! You know I love the person who makes this suggestion! One of my favorite things about Savvy is being able to change the schedule in the summer to morning than after school. - Workbook pages. One parent said, “We do the appropriate workbook pages in the morning working morning after breakfast.” Some of my children’s favorite workbooks are those who are searching for summer brain (this reminds me that I have to order a few new ones!).
- Table activity. A mother said that for her little children, she put “Activities for them on the table so that I could sleep in a few minutes!” As a big sleep lover, I all about this summer morning routine!
- Family breakfast outside. If you have a place to eat outdoors, this is a fun way to make summer feel special without much effort. (In fact, we did the same thing for the past two years and lunch outside every day – I can’t wait to start again this summer!). Other parents said, “We like a slow summer morning because this year is very busy. Breakfast and coffee on the terrace.”
- Start with yoga. I like this suggestion for a summer morning routine -Girls I really like Yoga Cosmic Children in the past and this will be a good addition for our morning routine.
- Duties & outdoors. One parent says they start their summer morning with “Knock Out tasks and then walking fast or cycling around the block with children while it is cool.”
- Daily kindness project. This is the beginning of a great summer morning. This old man said that their daily kindness project looked like “sweeping the terrace of neighbors or cutting grass, reading for parents, walking a dog.” I like this.
- Ride a morning bicycle. Everyone in our family rides a bicycle well now, so we might adopt this as part of our summer morning routine – I like to come out when it’s still cool!
- Read loud time. You will not be surprised to hear that this is a popular start in the morning summer. A woman said, “Sitting on the terrace we read the Bible and then our reading novel is currently together.” It’s hard to beat the day that starts with a good book!
- Rad and happy coloring page. This monthly coloring page is done very well and you can print as many as you need! Give some colored pencils and you have easy and calm summer morning activities. You know that I can’t not add that this will be the ideal time to listen to the audio book together too!
- 1 mile + weeding. If you have children who need to burn energy in the morning, this mother shares that in her family, they “make everyone wake up and run one mile (before it gets hot) then goes weeds for 10 minutes and breakfast.” Do they want to come to weed my garden?
- Simple stacked routine. It is fun for everyone to find out what is expected in the summer morning and to find out what happens next, even if time varies a little a day. A mother says that in their family they “have breakfast, read for 20 minutes, and 1 small assignment before playing or screen.”
- Running or cycling with children -children’s environment. This is a simple way to remove children and move in a pleasant way in the summer morning with their friends! If someone arranges this in my environment, I will be happy!
