Book Deals for the Weekend of April 18th

I can’t believe we’ve been home for over a week (and I still wake up at 6am every morning). In case you missed it, here’s my post about our France itinerary.

I’ve been reading a lot this past week since we got home in preparation for the Summer Reading Guide and I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time reading this weekend!

Here are some of my favorite book deals going on right now:

Audio Emma m lionAudio Emma m lion

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (Vol. 1 – Vol. 5) by Beth Brower – audiobook – $2.99
I can’t believe the first 5 books are selling for under $3! If you’ve been here for a while, you know I love this series! I’ve read the entire series twice before it was published on audio and I’m really excited to try the audio version – wait until you hear all the narrators’ voices! And if you have trouble understanding physical books, let me tell you that audiobooks really help.

DifferentDifferent

Divergent by Veronica Roth – audiobook – $4.99
This dystopian novel topped all the charts when it was published a decade ago and is still a joy to read and listen to for adults and teens alike!

Birth of Evil by Trevor Noah – audiobook – $5.99
This original audible sound is a must to add to your list. You may have seen Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, but his life started as a crime. He is the son of a multiracial marriage that during apartheid in South Africa was illegal. This smart and honest memoir is the perfect book to add to any book club and is one of those books that everyone mentions when they talk about books that are made 100x better by their audio version (read by the author, of course).

ScytheScythe

Scythe by Neal Schusterman – audiobook – $5.99
When I asked my Instagram community about their favorite books for teenage boys – these were the most popular by far! I think the premise of this one is very interesting. Set in a future world where death has been conquered, people called Scythes are the only ones authorized to end life in order to maintain population control. I haven’t read this one yet but it’s been on my list for a long time!

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson – audiobook – $5.99
I have some HUGE Brandon Sanderson fans in my house (my husband and daughter). This is his debut novel and has everything you love about a Brandon Sanderson book – a strong hero/heroine, high fantasy and magic, and a wonderfully crafted world that comes to life as you read.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins – audiobook – $6.99
I wasn’t sure what to expect after that Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (which I couldn’t finish), but this Haymitch prequel really had me hooked and reminded me of the hold the original trilogy had on me! Set during the 50th Hunger Games, this is the story of Haymitch as a competitor in the Hunger Games 24 years before Katniss volunteers as a Tribute. This one is INTENSE and the audio makes me feel like I’m watching a movie. My 15 year old son loved it too.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith – ebook – $0.99
This is a book I wanted to read for years and didn’t get around to until it became the only audiobook I had as I drove hours each week to my elementary school library in Boston. And I totally get it. (Full review here).

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
