Bart read this one loudly to Ella when she was about four and a half years old, and they both liked it. It was one of my childhood favorites either, but Bart had never read it, so it was fun to see him experience it for the first time.

This is the same writer as Pippi Longstocking, but does not have the same wild joy – funny and sweet, but much firmer, and we like every chapter.

Violet Mackerel by Anna Branford
This initial chapter series has a nuance and charm that is very similar to the beloved Ramona books Beverly Cleary (thought the charming damage maker).
