I have some big reading goals for 2026 and . . . So far I haven’t destroyed it!
I use the goal tracker on Goodreads and I’m currently 5 books behind if I want to reach my goal.
Ah well, hopefully I can make up for it as time goes by!
Here are the four books I’m reading right now

The True Confession of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
I was reading different books out loud to my girls and I could tell we were all losing steam (when we only read once a week, you know that’s not a good sign). I suggested we pocket that book and move on to the next book on our list, which was this book. I LOVED this book when I was a pre-teen and I read it aloud to my kids about 5 years ago but my three younger daughters barely remember it so it was fun to re-read!

Unreasonable Friendliness by Will Guidara
I don’t remember who recommended this book to me, but it came up in my library and I absolutely LOVED it. Lucky Bart hears it every day when I read it. This is one of those books that I think really works well as a parenting and relationships book, as well as a business book! Plus, it’s very easy to read – I was hooked from the first page!

First State by Erin Entrada Kelly
A friend in my neighborhood invited my 10 year old and I to join a mother/daughter book club and this was the first choice. My daughter has already finished it and I am 1/3 of the way through and really enjoying it. I found his first Newbery book, Hello Universe, a bit slow, but this one was a quick read for me! I’m excited to meet and discuss it!

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
After the January book club selection for the Everyday Reading Book Club (Briar Club), I immediately delved into this book by the same author. I love a good historical fiction novel and many people have said this is their favorite Kate Quinn book, so I’m excited to dive into this novel (I’ve only finished a few chapters so far!).
And this is what my team is reading right now!

I Who Never Knew Man by Jacqueline Harpman
I spent one of my Audible credits on this and I can’t decide if I’m happy I did it. The story follows 39 women and a girl locked in an underground cage. They don’t remember how they got there, why they are there, have no concept of time and are watched all the time by guards. Their previous memories are still there but not complete. This one started out really strong for me, but I started to lose steam. Hoping it will redeem itself with a great ending.

The One with the Kiss Cam by Cindy Steel
This book is a sweet and light romance that is easy to sink into at the end of the day. I picked it up after seeing it on Kindle Unlimited, and it turned out to be the perfect bedtime read. The story follows Nora and Duke who are unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight after an awkward (and very public) Kiss Cam moment at a Jazz game. What starts out as a cringeworthy situation turns into a slowly developing and enjoyable romance filled with humor, chemistry, and tender moments. It was a fun book to read at night, one that felt comforting and calming as I drifted off to sleep.

Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
I started reading this one after seeing it in Followers’ Favorite Books of 2025, and because it was immediately available on Libby. The life of Clementine, an overworked book publicist, unravels when she inherits her aunt’s magical apartment and falls in love with Iwan, a charming chef who somehow rented it out seven years ago. It was a really enjoyable unexpected read, and I think the epilogue really tied it all together.
